Ringing the Churchbell (pt4)

Those of us who do have use of our full faculties, who are ambulatory, who can walk, drive cars, knock on doors – we can spread the Gospel of Jesus to everyone everywhere – we simply have to do it. Evangelism is NOT an option. It is a command, and it is not relegated to those who have been spiritually gifted in doing it. In case you somehow missed it when you read your Bible, nowhere in scripture does God ever say, Why don’t you try this? He never says, “If it isn’t too inconvenient, talk to people about Me”. God NEVER suggests anything – he tells us very flatly: DO!!!

If you are His, you are a soldier, adopted into God’s family makes you a sword bearing soldier sent to cleave the darkness with – the Sword of the Lord – the Bible/the Gospel

No one gets a pass – absolutely no one!

A god who is firm, resolute and demanding does not fit easily in our little Christian worldviews does it? BUT, it is the God who IS! We serve Him, not the other way around – we serve God. Else we serve the worm and the forces of evil arrayed against God and his people. God demands, we do, else we are traitors to our glorious leader and Lord. I know that sounds harsh, but get over it, because that IS how it is. What God wants, God gets, and God deserves!!

The Work of the Lord. The Work…of the Lord! If you have been saved by God, if you belong within God’s extended family, you have been saved TO WORK! There is not one single thing on this earth that you can’t do better in Heaven or anywhere else except pointing people to the beautiful and wondrous lamb of God. Nothing!

The Work of the Lord, is our mission, reigning the Word of the Lord down on a hungry desperate land, at the top of our lungs, and when that isn’t loud enough – buy a megaphone, and SHOUT!

Jesus Christ is calling you and me to the fields of battle, the harvest is ripe and lies rotting in the fields while we chase and promote our own hopes, dreams, and desires, rather than seeking the salvation of the lost, those who remain in darkness to this day, with only eternal separation from God to look forward to – unless…they hear the Gospel in some way before they die, and turn from their sin.

And people of the world are exactly that – LOST. They don’t need fancy coffees and bowling nights. They need the Word of God, taken to them wherever they are – at home, at work, in the drive-through, everywhere!

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! (Romans 10).

Blessed are those who latch up their sandals and hit the streets. THIS has been the way of spreading the word of God since the very beginning. The apostles did not sit and wait for people to find them – they hit the road and covered the face of the earth of the known earth in a very short time, and they did so right up until the moment of their own deaths. Minus John, all of them were KILLED by idolaters, pagan priests, Roman authorities and the like. And all of them went gladly to their deaths, all for the joy of doing… The Work of the Lord.

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

The Churchbell is ringing brethren, will we heed its call?
